6th graders were scientist in the field of physics learning about Newton's Laws of motion. They used dominoes and hypothesized how to make them fall faster. They flipped a single chip from the back of their hand and caught it without turning their over. They investigated how to move stacked objects without touching them. Stacking Solo cups intermittently with paper, students had to pull the papers to stack the cups. Finally they observed Newton's Cradle with marbles to see how they react. Once finished, students began to create their own experiments to illustrate the laws. |

Sixth grade English students chose a monster to research. They were then tasked with making recommendation to the FBI on whether the government should continue to pursue the creature. They presented their research and conclusions to seventh grade students who took notes and completed a rubric on their presentations. This was a great collaborative activity between students and grade levels!
Students were challenged to use higher level thinking skills to solve riddles that would give them clues to the upcoming story they would be reading. They had to use team work and communication skills to be successful. After watching an emergency broadcast for a "missing person", they used English skills and problem solving to acquire their clues. Each group then had to hypothesize the characters, setting, and plot of the upcoming story. They were Super Sleuths!
